Chicken Chettinad


Chicken Chettinad


Chicken – 1 kg Cut into small pieces
Onion – 2 large finely chopped
Tomato – 1 large finely chopped
Oil – 4 tbsps
Curry leaves – few

For Spice Powder – Dry Roast and Grind

Fennel -1 tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
Black pepper corns – 2 tsp
Dry red chilis – 5-6
Cinnamon – 1 inch piece
Cloves – 3
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Garlic – 2 large pods

Dry Roast the above ingredients except garlic and grind into powder lastly add sliced garlic and grind ,remove and keep the spice mix.


1.Wash and drain chicken,Chop onions and tomato finely.
2.Heat oil in a large wok or pan and add oil then fry onions and add chicken pieces fry till light brown and add tomato and salt fry well cover cook 5-8 mins .
3 Lastly add the spice mix and curry leaves and stir well cook for few more mins till done .

If you like to have Gravy in this dish add extra tomatoes and a cup of water while cooking chicken.

This is a spicy dish…Serve with rice
