Kodi Kuraa…(Traditional Chicken Curry) or Naatu Kodi Kuraa

This Chicken Curry is very special in every Andhra Home and Served with the Kobbari Annam (Coconut Rice) as a special when we recieve a Guest or dear relatives….Normally Done with Naatu Kodi…. that is the chicken fed and raised at home… Tastes delicious when done with this bird.Nowadays no one has at home cause living in aparments limits all this..but available in chicken shops in India.


Chicken – whole just burnt over flame and chopped into desired size of pieces.
Onion – 2 large chopped
Green chili – 3 slit
Tomato – 2 large chopped
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsps
Khus Khus (Gasaalu) – 2 tbsps(Optional…When not Available)
Cashew nuts – 5-6
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 2 tsps
Oil – 3 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Cloves – 4
Cardamom – 4
Cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
Fresh coriander – 1/2 cup chopped
Fresh coconut – 1/2 cup grated


1.Prepare chicken and keep
2.Dry roast slightly coconut,Khus Khus,cashew ,coriander seeds,cloves,cardmom,and cinnamon and make paste with little water.
3.Heat a wok and and add oil,fry onions,green chili and curry leaves well add ginger garlic paste,fry well and add the chicken pieces and saute for 4-5 mins and add the red chili powder,salt and turmeric powder fry well and add the prepared white paste done with coconut,cashew,and khus khus..fry 2 mins.
4.Add chopped tomatoes and cover cook till soft and add 2-3 cups of water and cover till done.
5.When using the Naatu Kodi….Add more water and cook longer on low heat .When done add fresh coriander.

Serve hot with Coconut rice along with Gongura mutton or gongura chicken and raita.
