Carrot Tomato Dal

Ingredients
Carrots – 2 peeled,washed and chopped
Tomatoes – 2 chopped
Toor dal(Split pigeon pea) – 1 cup
Onion – 1 chopped
Curry leaves – few
Turmeric powder – 3 pinches
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – to taste

For Tempering -Talimpu or Tadka

Oil – 2 tsps
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Garlic pods -2 crushed
Red chilis – 2 broken
Curry leaves – few
onion – 1 small piece sliced

Method

Pressure cook all the ingredients for Dal using enough water and mash adding salt.

Prepare tempering by heating oil and frying the ingredients and add to the mashed dal and serve in a serving dish.

Goes well with rice or chappatis.
