Ridge Gourd Curry


Ridge gourd ( beerakai ) – 2 cups peeled and chooped
Onion – 1 large chopped
Curry leaves – few
Turmeric powder – 2 pinches
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Channa Dal – 1 tsp
Green chili – 1 slit
Oil – 2 tsps


1.Peel and chop the ridge gourd into 1 inch pieces,wash before chopping.Chop onions too.
2.Heat oil in a pan,and add mustard,channa dal,curry leaves and onion and fry well.
3.Now add the chopped ridge gourd pieces,green chili and cook till all the water evaporates and add salt, stir few mins and sprinkle turmeric and coriander powder,cook 2-3 mins and its done.Turn of heat.

We can add tomato if needed to have gravy.

Serve with chappatis or rice
