Feel like eating Tandoori Roti….Sure you can even without having a TANDOOR OVEN at home…just try this method of cooking…its fun and worth tasting at the end…
All you need is to prepare dough…and to start with you need the below mentioned Ingredients.
Plain flour/Maida – 2 cups
Whole wheat flour -1 cup
Salt to taste
Baking soda -2 pinches
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
Yoghurt/Curd -3 tbsps
Oil – 2 tsps
Water to combine the flours to make dough.
First take a large mixing bowl and combine all the above listed ingredients to get the dough…should look like chapati dough…not too loose or too hard !!!…but just soft and firm.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep covered for about half an hour.
Now divide in to equal portions….you can make nearly 8 rotis with the prepared dough.
Roll out the dough into discs a bit thicker than how we make chapatis and keep
Now here is the Tricky Thing…Place the griddle/tawa on the burner or cook top and heat well till almost it smokes.
Then sprinkle a handful of water onto the hot griddle and IMMEDIATELY put the roti on to the tawa and gently press down so that it sticks to the tawa and let the roti bubble up as shown…
Let it bubble well all over and get cooked on that side…You may burn it or undercook it for the first time but do not worry….Try …and try.
Now this is the crucial part of the TANDOORI ROTI…..now you need to remove tawa from the burner and reverse the roti side down…roti does not fall but you need to rotate the tawa so that the flame touches all over and cook the other side as shown…
Take care that you not burn …let brown and bubble up…now remove with the spatula and stack till you finish all.

These Tandoori Rotis are so soft on the inside and crisp on the out side…and tastes so different because of the ingredients used to prepare dough….i have tried this by myself and this came out well….serve restaurant style food to your family at home.
