Peanut Chutney With Dry Red Chillis


Peanut Chutney With Dry Chilis.


Peanuts – 1 cup
Dry red chilis – 5-6
Onion – 1 large
Tamarind – a size of a marble
Salt – as per taste
Cumin – 2 pinches
Garlic – 1 pod

For Tempering or Tadka (Talimpu)
Oil – 2 tbsps
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Dry chilis – 2 broken
Curry leaves – few


1.Heat a pan and roast peanuts on medium heat till well roasted,do not burn.Cool and peel skins off,and keep aside.
2.In the same pan add oil and fry red chilis and remove,and fry chopped onions and tamarind till light brown.
3.Now transfer the roasted peanuts,dry chilis and salt and run the mixer to make powder then openand add fried tamarind, onions,cumin,garlic and little water and grind to get smooth chutney,transfer into a bowl and adjust consistency by adding water,mix well and keep.
4.For tempering heat oil in a small pan add mustard and urad dal fry few mins and add red chilis and curry leaves fry 2 more mins and pour over the chutney.

Serve with Hot Idlis or Dosas.

Peanut Chutney With Sour Cucumber


Sour cucumber (Dosakai) – 1 small peeled,deseeded and chopped
Peanuts – 1 cup
Onion – 1 large
Green chilis – 5-6 hot
Tamarind – Marble size
Tomato – 1 large
Oil – 2 tbsp


1.Dry roast the peanuts and keep apart.And fry all the other ingredients in oil and cool.
2.Keep a few cucumber pieces aside and grind coarsely all the other with salt and 2 tsp water.
3. Transfer into a bowl and add saved cucumber pieces and mix well.you can add tempering if you wish.

Spicy Peanut Chutney


Spicy Peanut Chutney


Peanuts – 1 cup
Onions – 2 medium
Green chili – 5-6
Tomato – 1 large
Tamarind – 2” piece
Oil – 2 tsps
Cumin – 1/2 tsp
Garlic – 1 pod sliced


1.Heat a pan and dry roast peanuts on medium till they are well roasted but do not burn.
2.Remove the peanuts into a flat tray let cool and peel of skins and keep.
3.In the same pan add oil and onions,green chilis tamarind fry few mins. Then add chopped tomatoes cover cook till soft and stir in between till there is no water.
4.Turn of heat and let cool.Now First make powder of the peanuts and add the fried onion tomato mix to the jar along with salt,garlic and cumin and little water.Keep a litle fried onion pieces aside.
5.Transfer the chutney to a small bowl and add the saved fried onion on top.

Serve with dosas or idlis or kichidi.
You can add more water to adjust the consistency and tempering/talimpu if u wish.
